Description

Overview

This ticket is simply a list of use cases I’ve run into while working on Windows. The idea is that I write down anything I’ve had to manually configure on Windows and it’d be nice if Puppet configured for me.

  • Enable Remote Desktop Access
  • Start a SSH service exposing cmd.exe as LOCAL_SYSTEM.

Are you thinking this would be for internal puppet development on Windows, or contained within the FOSS/PE installer itself?

#2 Updated by Jeff McCune over 1 year ago

I’m thinking these would be a good feature to ship as part of Puppet.

Probably out of scope for the FTW project.

I’m trying to return some sanity to the tickets in this project.

Jeff, do you think this belongs in a ticket?

#4 Updated by Josh Cooper 11 months ago

My 2 cents, I see things like this belonging in a dev environment module for windows, something I happen to be working on, e.g. install git, devkit, chrome, process explorer, etc.

Is there any reason we wouldn’t put this into a public ticket rather than the private roadmap one?

(That sounds quite awesome Josh)

#6 Updated by Jeff McCune 11 months ago

No reason I can think of. Since Josh is already doing it might as well have a ticket for it.

  • Assignee set to Josh Cooper

ok, moving to Puppet project and assigning to Josh to do as he wants with it.

#8 Updated by Nigel Kersten 11 months ago

  • Project changed from Product Roadmap to Puppet
  • Category deleted (Idea Bucket (Tentative))

  • Status changed from Unreviewed to Accepted

I’m working on a developer module which I think will encompass this, e.g. install msys, etc.
